Niko (Nicolás Perfetto) was born in 1986 in Zárate, Argentina. He started taking drawing lessons at 14 and continued throughout his early twenties. Aware that a good comics needs not only great artwork but also a solid script, he took script writing lessons as well.
He has participated in many contests (won a few!) and has published some online comics. He currently lives in Buenos Aires where he works as an illustrator and concept artist for advertising while he moves forward with his first graphic novel.
We were confronted with Niko’s work at the International Comics Festival ‘Salon Stripa’ in Belgrade this year as he submitted a short story into one of the competitions. We were immediately drawn to his aesthetic.
No superheroes or fantastical plots, just raw, intimate life that perfectly resembles our own. Niko is an astute observer of human nature. His stories are not elaborate or complicated but rather immerse you immediately into a situation you may even find familiar and then makes you think.
Niko’s drawing style reminds us of Seth and Chris Ware, some of our favourites, but remains distinctly authentic and genuine with his use of emotive narrative.
