Modesty Comics was given a pass to the Frieze Art Fair – both Frieze and Frieze Masters – and the week turned into an artistic whirlwind of unexpected proportions! Here is a look at our diary…
After the VIP preview we went to Nobu for dinner with our NYC friends who had travelled across the pond to buy some art. After dinner we attended the Christie’s auction exhibition of art in Mayfair.
Highlights include Sotherby’s exhibition and PAD in Berkeley Square.
Attended Frieze Masters with artist and dear friend Nichole Fitch. Favourite stand: Helly Nahmad’s
Indoo had his annual Tate Young Patrons event at this home on South Audley Street in Mayfair that turns into what can only be described as a house party. We had great conserns for the millions of pounds worth of art on his walls but were very thankful for the full-catering curry that came out at middnight. It’s also always a pleasure to catch up with Lindey Lohan and hang out with Tijana’s style twin Emory Ault!
Modesty went to Frieze contemporary – finally! Our eyes darted around and were drawn to so many things but we found some real comic-book related gems.
We discovered artist Nikolas Gambaroff who is a noted collage artist from Germany currently living in New York, who used vintage comic strips to create these particular pieces.
We also thoroughly enjoyed these pieces:
And loved strolling through the sculpture garden in Regents Park
Attended Frieze Masters one last time with film producer and friend Joey McFarland then attended the Premier of his new film ‘Horns’ starring Daniel Radcliffe and Juno Temple.
Goodbye Frieze! See you next year!
